Ingeborg Matula devotes herself to the painterly exploration of details. These are fragile pictorial spaces, often floral motifs or scenes, which hint at the bigger picture in an exciting way. What becomes visible is a fragment that leaves room for interpretation.
Show less to see more. It is with this approach that Matula’s works unfold their quiet power. They seduce with their details and are both an invitation and a mirror.
“Painting should amaze, seduce, convince, and sometimes even confuse.” This is how Ingeborg Matula herself describes her artistic endeavor. Her works arise from a dialogue between the inner and outer worlds.

Following the opening, we look forward to a reading by Andrea Schramek from Hermann Hesse’s “Iris.” “Based on Anselm’s childlike fascination with the iris, Hermann Hesse tells the story of the search for true happiness and inner life in his fairy tale Iris (1916).
A later encounter with a woman named Iris triggers a profound spiritual journey for Anselm: he leaves his familiar, socially conditioned life behind to find himself and the meaning of his existence. Nature, especially the world of flowers, becomes a mirror of the soul and a place of revelation.”
